Dr. A L Rao has been with the Indian IT industry for over forty years. He was among the first few members to join Wipro's Information Technology business in 1980 and played a critical role in transforming Wipro to a multibillion dollar global technology giant. His key contributions include building of technology practices, building and growing Telecom & Technology Services business to over a billion, and enhancing Wipro’s presence in Japan and China. Dr. Rao has held several positions including General Manager of R&D, VP Technical, Group VP Technology & Quality, Chief Technology Officer and President of Telecom & Technology Solutions. He was Chief Operating Officer at Wipro from 2005 through 2008.

From 2009-2011, Dr. Rao consulted for Mindteck and Aricent. Dr. Rao headed IT Services at Trianz from 2013 to 2017.

Dr. Rao was conferred Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering for his distinguished service to computer science & engineering. He holds a Masters and PhD in Nuclear Physics from Andhra University, India.
